Build the swirl playlist

All 1,805 records in the archive, pushed into a Spotify playlist of your own. Roughly six minutes to run, plus about three of setup first, because Spotify changed the rules.

Requires Spotify PremiumSince 9 March 2026 Spotify has required a Premium account for Development Mode apps. On a free account the connection will fail at the authorization step.

You supply your own credentials because Spotify caps every app at five authorized users, so a shared PLMDB app would serve five people and then stop forever. You make your own instead, and you're user one of five on it. Nothing you enter here leaves your browser: the token lives in memory for the session and is never written to storage, and PLMDB has no server to send it to.

  1. Open developer.spotify.com/dashboard and hit Create app. The name and description don't matter.
  2. Set Redirect URI to exactly this page's URL. Spotify matches it character for character, and rejects localhost.
  3. Tick Web API, save, then paste the app's Client ID below.
